OVERALL: Draw
R1 and R2 UK has the Spanish audio, with English subtitles. R2 German -release has the Franco-interview & additional English dub. All releases are taken from the 'clothed' Spanish version of the film and contain some alternate/deleted scenes.
Versions:
The 'clothed' Spanish version of the film eliminates nudity and reduces the film's sexual content, and adds a subplot (shot a year after the film finished production) featuring a character played by Lina Romay. The 'unclothed' French version removes this subplot and thus has a considerably shorter running time. For a direct comparison of the differences between the two cuts, see this link.
This film is known as:
*"Clothed Spanish version”:
-The Rites of Frankenstein
-The Curse of Frankenstein
-La Maldición de Frankenstein
*"Unclothed French version":
-The Erotic Rites of Frankenstein
-Les Expériences érotiques de Frankenstein
-The Erotic Adventures of Frankenstein
Please see the image-comparison (US vs Germany) from Here.
Also available from:
- Divisa (Spain) -
CUTS:
- R1 America- Image Entertainment - No cuts - Spanish "clothed version" (85:20 NTSC)
-
R2 Germany- X-Rated KultDVD - Spanish "clothed version", 81:48 min - PAL (German-release has approx. 23 seconds of additional music with black screen after the end credits compared to the UK-release), and not the French version.
More info about the Spanish release(s) (from Brad Stevens / "Mondo Erotico" web site): "The older Spanish (Major) video release runs 81:51 min, and removes all the nudity (partly through cutting, but mostly by using alternate "clothed takes"). The notorious scene in which a man and a woman are whipped until they fall onto spikes in a non-nude variant. The Spanish version also adds a complete subplot in which Lina Romay plays a peasant called Esmeralda. There are 5 extra scenes, with a total running time of 17:29 min. These scenes were apparently filmed some time after the original release. The forest through which Lina Romay walks at the beginning of "Female Vampire" can also be glimpsed in this new footage, so these re-shoots were probably done during the filming of "Female Vampire". The newer Spanish (Divisa) version runs 81:07 min, and is identical to the previous release, except for the omission of a single 44 second shot of Romay (time: 51:14). - R2 United Kingdom- Tartan Video UK - “Clothed Spanish version” (81:42 PAL)
