Apropos http://dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film. ... 11#overall , I checked http://www.movie-censorship.com/report.php?ID=4237485 and found this note:
But the American version has (together with the "complete" cover, the German one has no Swastika) an advantage over the German one, namely fade-ins. The German DVD only offers subtitles. Whether this difference really makes a difference is left undecided here.
What could this mean -- what fade-ins does the American DVD have that are an advantage over the slightly longer German DVD? Anything to do with http://www.closinglogos.com/page/Universal+Pictures?

Also,
The film's final cut was originally 3 hours and 10 minutes long.
Boy! That should be a good Collector's Item whenever it's released on a movie disc!
