Trucking Movies Double Feature:

Breaker! Breaker! (First viewing) – 5.5/10
A karate-fighting truck driver searches for his younger brother who goes missing after he makes a detour to a small town run by a corrupt judge.

This makes a watchable double feature with Convoy or White Line Fever. Another one I'd like to watch is High Ballin' (1978).

Genre: Action, Adventure, Drama
Worth watching? No, if it wasn't for Chuck Norris
Worth re-watching? No
Bottom-line? Only for fans of Norris (like me)

Truck Stop Women (First viewing) – 5.5/10
Anna, a bad mama, and her bad girl Rose run a truck-stop brothel that doubles as a cover-up organization for truck hijacking in the deserts of New Mexico. When the mob attempts to move in on their business, the mother and daughter decide to fight back. The daughter, however, has something up her sleeve.

Claudia Jennings stars, Mark L. Lester directs.

Genre: Action, Crime, Drama
Worth watching? No
Worth re-watching? No
Bottom-line? Pass

Hammer's Dracula Double Feature:

Scars of Dracula (First viewing) – 5.5/10
Dracula Prince of Darkness (First viewing) – 6.5/10

Enjoyable watch, but the biggest flaw of the sequels is the many deaths of Dracula. Come on, how many times can he die?

Genre: Horror
Worth watching? Yes
Worth re-watching? Yes
Bottom-line? Enjoyable for those who like classic horror and definitely for fans of Christopher Lee

Shock Waves (First viewing; YouTube) – 6.5/10
A small group of six travelers on a battered old boat washes ashore on a deserted island in the Caribbean sea. Upon reaching it, the hapless vacationers find themselves being hunted by Nazi zombies!

This makes a spooky horror double bill with Death Ship or Oasis of the Zombies.

Genre: Horror
Worth watching? Yes, partly due to the creepy music.
Worth re-watching? Yes
Bottom-line? Spooky, atmospheric, very low budget 70’s horror movie that is best watched in the early hours.

80’s Slasher Thriller Triple Feature

X-ray a.k.a. Hospital Massacre (First viewing, YouTube) – 4.5/10
The Prowler a.k.a. Rosemary’s Killer [1981] – 6/10
The New York Ripper – 5.5/10

X-ray is a forgettable slasher thriller with a dumb plot about a woman getting herself "trapped" in a hospital after being made to believe that she is suffering from a fatal illness.

I saw The Prowler at the cinema, which was re-titled Rosemary’s Killer then. Being a 10-year old at that time, this movie horrified me.

The New York Ripper would make a more enjoyable viewing if it was not for the gratuitous sleaze and excessive gore.

Genre: Slasher Thriller
Worth watching? Yes. The Prowler
Worth re-watching? Yes, if you like The Prowler
Bottom-line? Gruesome threesome with The Prowler being the best of the three.

Luc Merenda Quadruple Feature

Silent Action (First viewing, YouTube) – 7.5/10
A conspiracy action thriller about a cop (Merenda) investigating a series of murders involving government and military officials.

This is an above-average action thriller. Tomas Milian co-stars. Sergio Martino directs.

Not on English-friendly DVD let alone on BD.

The Last Round (First viewing, YouTube) – 7/10
A mysterious drifter arrives in a town run by two feuding mafia families. Working as a bodyguard, he uses them in his favor to exact revenge on the man responsible for the deaths of his mother and sister.

This action drama plays like A Fistful of Dollars and Last Man Standing (1996). Luc Merenda plays as a mafia family leader. Another good entry in the Eurocrime genre. Stelvio Massi directs.

Deadly Chase a.k.a. Il commissario Verrazzano (First viewing, YouTube) – 6.5/10
A cat-loving police inspector Verrazzano (Merenda) investigates the suicide of a banker who is believed to have been murdered.

This is more of a plot-driven, rather-confusing, detective drama than the usual straightforward action-oriented Eurocrime thriller. Janet Agren (Eaten Alive, Ratman) co-stars. Franco Prosperi (Meet Him and Die) directs. Pretty enjoyable watch.

Not on English-friendly DVD let alone on BD.

Gambling City (First viewing, YouTube) – 7.5/10
Merenda plays as a young slick gambler who is hired to work as a card cheater in a casino owned by a wheelchair-bound mafia boss. His life is threatened when his impetuous lifestyle brings him into a violent conflict with his boss’s vicious son.

This is a surprisingly very watchable crime drama. Sergio Martino directs.

Genre: Eurocrime, Drama, Thriller
Worth watching? Yes, all four.
Worth re-watching? Yes, especially Silent Action and Gambling City.
Bottom-line? Worth collecting if you are into 70’s Eurocrime thriller.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017) - Great fun. A nice update of a childhood classic of mine.

El Camino Christmas (2017) - New Netflix original with Jessica Biel, Tim Allen, and Dax Shepard. Allegedly a comedy.

A Little Chaos (2014) - Worth a watch for the few scenes between Alan Rickman and Kate Winslet that really work. Apart from that, pretty mediocre.

Legendary (2013) - Combines two guilty pleasures; creature features and Dolph Lundgren! Nice to see both Lundgren and Scott Adkins in a movie without them having to do b-movie quality martial arts all the time. Unfortunately, the reason they do the b-movie quality martial arts is kind of obvious once you watch this.

Urban Legends: Bloody Mary (2005) - Poorest film in the Urban Legends trilogy notable only for early appearances from Kate and Rooney Mara.

Poliziotteschi / Eurocrime Quadruple Feature

Gang War in Milan a.k.a. Milano Rovente (First viewing) – 7.5/10
A Milanese pimp named Toto who runs a prostitution racket wages a gang war against a French drug dealer who wants to expand his business on Toto’s home turf.

Interesting Eurocrime drama with a jazzy score. Antonio Sabato stars. Umberto Lenzi directs.

The Counselor a.k.a. Il consigliori [1973] (First viewing, YouTube) – 6/10
Tomas (Tomas Milian), the lawyer and godson of a San Francisco mafia boss, who has just been released from prison decides to leave behind his dark past and lead a new life. When the underboss forces to take over the organization, Tomas once again joins the don (Martin Balsam) in an armed confrontation with the traitor and his men.

Rather talky Eurocrime drama. Alberto De Martino (Holocaust 2000, Blazing Magnum) directs.

Meet Him and Die a.k.a. Pronto ad uccidere (First viewing) – 6/10
A cop goes undercover to infiltrate a mafia and get back at the big boss responsible for shooting and crippling his mother.

Fairly entertaining Eurocrime drama. Ray Lovelock, Martin Balsam, Elke Sommer star. Franco Prosperi (Deadly Chase) directs.

Cross Shot a.k.a. La Legge Violenta Della squadra anticrimine (First viewing, YouTube) – 7/10
A police inspector leads a manhunt for a small time crook who has stolen a mobster’s car which contains incriminating evidence that will put a mafia boss behind bars.

Pretty engaging Eurocrime drama. John Saxon stars. Stelvio Massi (The Last Round) directs.

Not on English friendly DVD and not on BD.

Genre: Eurocrime, Drama, Thriller
Worth watching? Yes, Gang War in Milan and Cross Shot.
Worth re-watching? Yes
Bottom-line? Gang War in Milan and Cross Shot are worth adding to your collection if you like Eurocrime drama.
