Rocco and His Brothers DVD UPDATED

The timings for the C'est la Vie edition are:

Film: 168:08
Documentary: 60:32
Trailer: 2:30
The trailer is for the French language version of the film.
The subtitles are burnt in.

According to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rocco_and_His_Brothers some versions of the film were cut. "The film was later seized by police officers and lawyers after Cardinal Tardini’s request that officials take action against “certain destructive films”. They demanded that four scenes be cut or the film would be confiscated and the producer prosecuted; however, after negotiations, Lombardo [the producer] agreed to darken the critical scenes within the film with filters; two of these darkened scenes were omitted entirely.". Their source is "Visconti: Explorations of Beauty and Decay" by Henry Bacon (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Visconti-Explo ... 521599601/), published in 1988.

I'm speculating that some of the DVDs contain the cut version. I'm pretty sure that all the cuts have been reversed for the BluRays that use the recent 4K restoration completed in April 2015 (i.e. the MoC and Milestone BluRays). The MoC and Medusa DVDs (released in 2008 and 2004) are a bit longer than the other DVDs so these might also be uncut. The rear cover of the MoC (illustrated at Amazon B0010NWANG) claims it is "a new anamorphic restoration of the film in its uncut Italian release version", and most reviews and discussions e.g. http://www.criterionforum.org/forum/vie ... php?t=7259 and https://www.thedigitalfix.com/film/content/67456/page/) claim that it is complete and uncut. But perhaps that means "complete using all the materials that were known to exist in 2008". I don't suppose anything can be done with these thoughts, unless someone who has the MoC DVD and/or BluRay can comment.

Updated the UK disc. Not sure about the cut status of the DVDs and only have the UK Blu-ray myself.
