Red Cliff (2008-2009) BD UPDATED

Postby Brent_Reid » 24 Nov 2018 15:23

There are three distinct DVDBeaver reviews, not all linked:

Chinese Mei Ah Pt 1: http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film2/DVDRevie ... lu-ray.htm
Chinese Mei Ah Pt 2: http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film2/DVDRevie ... lu-ray.htm
US Magnolia International cut: http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film2/DVDRevie ... lu-ray.htm

The two Mei Ah footnotes should say "extras", not "extra".

THe US BD extras are incomplete. They are:

Magnolia International cut BD
The Making of Red Cliff: The Long Road (SD, 2:25:50)
A Conversation with John Woo: The Heroism and History of Red Cliff (1080i, 27:03)
The Making of Red Cliff: The Long Road documentary (SD, 2:25:50)
HDNet: A Look at Red Cliff (1080i, 4:35) - currently missing
Storyboard Gallery (98 drawings, 1080p)
Also From Magnolia Home Entertainment Blu-ray trailers (1080p, 8:10)

Magnolia Part 1 BD
The Making of Red Cliff: The Long Road (SD, 2:25:50)
Storyboarding Red Cliff from Script to Screen with John Woo (1080i, 18:02)
HDNet: A Look at Red Cliff (1080i, 4:35)
Also From Magnolia Home Entertainment Blu-ray trailers (1080p, 8:10)

Magnolia Part 2 BD
A Conversation with John Woo: The Journey of Red Cliff (1080i, 45:34)
Storyboard Gallery (98 drawings, 1080p)
Also From Magnolia Home Entertainment Blu-ray trailers (1080p, 8:10)

The Oz International cut BD unnecessarily says it's "Non-Anamorphic". It should say "1080p 24fps AVC MPEG-4".

UK BD info:

Entertainment In Video International cut BD
Has skippable PAL start-up trailers and NTSC extras

Entertainment In Video Part 1 BD
Has skippable PAL start-up trailers and NTSC extras

Entertainment In Video Part 2 BD
No trailers or extras; US, etc-friendly

I only own the Magnolia Part 1 and Part 2 set. The rest of the info came from Blu-ray.com reviews and DVDBeaver.

I see that where the Magnolia International cut BD's trailer timings are missing, they're the same as on Magnolia's Part 1 disc.

Minor typos:

    Both Mei Ah BDs:
Notes: All extras in Mandarin, none of the extraS feature subtitles.

    Footnotes:
The US release is uncut, HAS 5.1 audio, and lengthy exclusive extras.

But are they separately playable like the Part 1 disc or only in a continuous 8 minute reel?

Fixed.

Only just saw your question; the answer is: I have no idea. Though it's extremely unlikely they'd author it any differently to their other RC BD, released on the same day...
