"Wild Lovers" 8mm short was originally shot at 18fps, but this transfer has been sped up to 24fps, hence the shorter runtime than the version on the "Eskimo Nell" UK 88 Films Blu-ray

"Party Pieces" 8mm short was originally shot at 18fps, but this colour transfer has been sped up to 24fps, plus some shots are shortened (totalling about 34 seconds at 18fps), hence the shorter runtime than the B&W version on the "Respectable - The Mary Millington Story" UK Simply Media DVD.

All extras are HD.

Easter Eggs: none known

(*** Note the database entry for UK Odeon DVD can be updated to state that it is open matte. ***)

Disc 4

Title 1: Queen of the Blues
Country: UK
Region: ALL
Releasing Studio: Screenbound Pictures
Case Type: Slimline Keep Case
Aspect Ratio: 1.66:1
Codec: AVC MPEG-4
Picture: 1080p 24fps
Soundtracks: English LPCM 2.0 mono 48kHz
Subtitles: none
Cuts: no cuts (63:00)
Commentaries: Audio Commentary with biographer Simon Sheridan and actor Allan Warren
Notes:

Image is cropped top and bottom compared with UK Odeon DVD (which is 1.33:1 open matte).

(*** Note the database entry for UK Odeon DVD can be updated to state that it is open matte. The DVD is uncut as already stated, despite the shorter effective runtime of 60:10 PAL equivalent to 62:40, as the Blu-ray also includes a BBFC certificate (0:19) at the start, which the DVD does not. ***)

Title 2: Mary Millington's True Blue Confessions
Country: UK
Region: ALL
Releasing Studio: Screenbound Pictures
Case Type: Slimline Keep Case
Aspect Ratio: 1.66:1
Codec: AVC MPEG-4
Picture: 1080p 24fps
Soundtracks: English LPCM 2.0 mono 48kHz
Subtitles: none
Cuts: no cuts (43:22)
Commentaries: Audio Commentary with biographer Simon Sheridan and executive producer David Sullivan
Notes:

Consists of: BBFC certificates x 2 (0:13) + "Mary Millington 1946-1979 Prologue" (6:30) + "Mary Millington's True Blue Confessions" (36:35) + black screen (0:04)
(note the prologue title is mistaken: Mary Millington was in fact born on 30th November 1945)

Image is cropped top and bottom compared with UK Odeon DVD (which is 1.33:1 open matte).

The Audio Commentary is not listed in the menu, so can only be accessed by changing the audio channel once playing

(*** Note the UK Odeon DVD version (41:20 PAL) does not include the BBFC certificates, but does include both the prologue (6:12 PAL) and the main title (35:08 PAL), so the database entry could be updated to note this, and also to state that it is open matte. ***)

Title 3: Mary Millington's World Striptease Extravaganza
Country: UK
Region: ALL
Releasing Studio: Screenbound Pictures
Case Type: Slimline Keep Case
Aspect Ratio: 1.42:1
Codec: AVC MPEG-4
Picture: 1080p 24fps
Soundtracks: English LPCM 2.0 mono 48kHz
Subtitles: none
Cuts: no cuts (47:17)
Commentaries: none
Notes:

Image is slightly cropped top and bottom compared with UK Odeon DVD (which is 1.33:1 open matte).

Picture quality is not great - transfer is probably from an analog tape source.

(*** Note the database entry for UK Odeon DVD can be updated to state that it is open matte, it is probably transferred from an analog tape source, and it is uncut - the DVD total runtime is 45:35 PAL, net runtime (minus the opening Tigon logo) is 45:21 PAL equivalent to 47:14. The Blu-ray has 0:03 of black at the end, giving a net runtime of 47:14, so they are effectively the same running length. The BBFC approved running time was 47:17. ***)

-

The Blu-ray entries mostly look OK as far as I can tell.

I recommend the following minor changes:

1. Mary Millington's True Blue Confessions (Blu-ray)

in the cuts section, make it similar to the DVD entry by adding:

includes the "Mary Millington 1946-1979" Prologue

2. For the dates of the extras, some are in brackets and some are not, so these could be made more consistent (if you can be bothered!) - either all bracketed or none (I don't personally have a preference). You might need to do this separately for each movie - I don't know how the database works in this regard.

For the DVDs of the movies and shorts, on these pages:

http://www.dvdcompare.net/comparisons/f ... ?fid=16584
http://www.dvdcompare.net/comparisons/f ... ?fid=16585

I recommend the following changes:

1. Confessions from the David Galaxy Affair:

Open matte transfer
Comes with a 4 page booklet of film notes by Simon Sheridan.

2. Queen of the Blues:

Open matte transfer
Comes with a 4 page booklet of film notes by Simon Sheridan.

3. Mary Millington's World Striptease Extravaganza:

no cuts

(as I detailed previously, the runtime is effectively the same as for the Blu-ray version, which in turn matches the BBFC runtime)

4. In general, the pages could be made more consistent in respect of the links between the main titles and the shorts. At the moment, the links are in the 'extras' section, or the 'notes' section, or the 'Overall' (verdict) section, or some combination of the above, or none of the above, or the other movie is mentioned but without a link.

Unless you think I am wrong, for:

Queen of the Blues

http://www.dvdcompare.net/comparisons/f ... ?fid=16585

you still need to add:

Open matte transfer

(It certainly has more image top and bottom than the Blu-ray version)
