This may have caused some confusion at http://www.commeaucinema.com/dvd/nosfer ... tique,2099, which lists another extra, "Le langage de l’ombre" (documentary) (40 min) that is not mentioned by any of the other sources (and is not shown in the disc 2 menu screen shot at http://www.cineclubdecaen.com/analyse/dvd/nosferatu.htm)

- R2 Spain (Divisa) (2009 release with Hans Erdmann score, 2-DVD special edition with book) http://www.zonadvd.com/modules.php?name ... &sid=20945, http://www.mundodvd.com/nosferatu-64757/

Corrections

R2 United Kingdom - Eureka 2001 release
The specs for this release are labelled "Specifications to be confirmed", and they're not quite correct.
Source: I borrowed this release from the library. The one I borrowed had the tinted version on disc 2.

Disc One
* The Film (Sepia version)
Commentaries:
- Audio Commentary - on disc one only (*see note below)
Extras:
- "NosferaTour" (featurette showing then-and-now photographic comparisons of filming locations with commentary) (13:10) ("NosferaTour" is the correct title for this featurette, which as the comparison says is also on the R0 America - Image Entertainment - Special Edition (using the same title "NosferaTour" according to http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film/dvdcompar ... 0Kino.html (menu is illustrated) and http://www.celtoslavica.de/chiaroscuro/ ... e/nos.html). However, I think the comparison is wrong when it says the commentary in this featurette is by Lokke Heiss, for two reasons: (i) on the Eureka disc, there is only one credit at the end of the featurette, "English translation from the original German version" and I don't think Lokke Heiss is German (is this him http://lokkeheiss.com/ ?) and (ii) I haven't been able to confirm anywhere else that Lokke Heiss was the commentator (it's not mentioned on the dvdbeaver and celtoslavica links above, for example)).
- "A Visual Legacy" (featurette illustrating original sketches, artwork and postcards with commentary) (4:09)
- Origins of Vampires (text notes) (also on disc two)
- Nosferatu's Controversy (text notes) (also on disc two)
- Trailers:
-- Nosferatu (trailer for the Eureka video/DVD) (2:47)
-- 'Shadow Of The Vampire' (theatrical trailer) (1:32)

Disc Two
* The Film (Tinted version) (possibly B&W in early copies)

Aspect Ratio: 1.33:1
Picture Format: Non-Anamorphic
TV System: PAL
Soundtrack(s):
- Musical Score by Art Zoyd Dolby Digital Simulated 5.1 Surround Sound (menu uses the word "Simulated") (on both discs)
- Musical Score by Art Zoyd Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo (disc two only)
Case type: Keep Case
Duration: 92:00
Notes:
- 2-Disc set.
- Current version contains Sepia version on Disc One and a TINTED B&W version on Disc 2. No details of the accuracy of the tinting are known.
- Older copies of this set only had a B&W version on the second disc - no colour tinting present.
- The informative audio commentary is uncredited. (*see note below)
- Also available in "F.W. Murnau´s Horror Classics ", twin pack with "Faust"

* according to http://www.celtoslavica.de/chiaroscuro/ ... e/nos.html, the commentary is the same as the one on the Image DVDs and it is therefore by Lokke Heiss, but in this case it's narrated by an actor

Notes that might be worth adding to other releases

R1 America - Kino International "Ultimate Edition"
- 2006 Luciano Berriatúa restoration
- As has already been done in the comparison with the Masters of Cinema releases, it might be worth noting that this was released in 2007. There was another Kino release in 2013, the "Deluxe Remastered Edition" (reviewed at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/62112/no ... d-edition/ - perhaps this one can be added as well, from that source? It has the 2006 Luciano Berriatúa restoration, remastered for high definition).

R2 United Kingdom - Eureka Masters of Cinema #64 - 2007 release
- Both soundtracks are a newly-recorded version of the original Hans Erdmann score.
- 2006 Luciano Berriatúa restoration

R2 United Kingdom - Eureka Masters of Cinema #64 - 2013 release
- 2006 Luciano Berriatúa restoration, remastered for high definition

Final note
http://www.ofdb.de/view.php?page=fassun ... vid=383386 says "Die invertierte Szene der alten DVD-Version wurde korrigiert." This is illustrated at http://movie-censorship.com/report.php?ID=4112494 (at 30:40 [34:46]), so is a problem at least with the 2007 MoC release and maybe the other 2007/2008 releases of the 2006 Luciano Berriatúa restoration as well. I don't know if it has been corrected in the other 2013 DVD and Blu-Ray releases.

The Australia release - Can't find confirmation about which disc has which extras at the moment, and what language intertitles are available. It claims "no subtitles" so English intertitles possibly? (emailing MichaelDVD)

The French release - Thanks for the info, but it is still vague. No runtime of the film, no notes on intertitles, and the musical score info.

The German DVD releases - Thanks, added both.

The German Blu - I'll get to that tomorrow.

The UK 2001 release - Question: Was the film in English or German intertitles? Both discs have the same intertitles?

The US Deluxe Remastered - would add, but not enough info (runtime, which disc has which extras)

The Upside down shot: Yes, it is in the Masters of Cinema 2013 reissue, so it was not corrected.

Hi James, the intertitles are in English, and both discs have the same intertitles.

Just in case you need to know, I've also seen the BFI edition, and that also has English intertitles, but they are different to Eureka's. Mostly they appear at the same points in the film and say the same things, but the translation and fonts are different. The Eureka also has "Act 1", "End of Act 1" "Act 2" etc intertitles which are missing from the BFI.

Cheers!

Thanks for the confirmation, these old comparisons are a mess as many of the old entries are very vague in basic info. Years ago we would have probably added the mentioned Australian or US deluxe edition based on the reviews above, but now we need a bit more concrete info.

If anyone out there owns other editions of Nosferatu (there must be some Nosferatu fanatic out there collecting every single DVD edition), let us know!

Yes, and there are a confusing number of transfers and restorations as well!

There's a slight mistake in the 2001 Eureka specs:

Soundtrack(s):
DISC ONE
Music Dolby Digital 5.1
Music Dolby Digital 2.0 stereo
DISC TWO
Music Dolby Digital 2.0 stereo

should be

Soundtrack(s):
DISC ONE
Music Dolby Digital 5.1
DISC TWO
Music Dolby Digital 5.1
Music Dolby Digital 2.0 stereo

Disc one has the 5.1 or commentary, Disc two has the 5.1 or 2.0.

Hi James

Sorry for the late reply!

In the interests of tidying things up a bit, is it worth clarifying that the Image's "The Nosferatu Tour (then-and-now photographic comparisons of filming locations with commentary by Lokke Heiss)" is the same as the Eureka's ""NosferaTour" featurette"?

The Australian Director's Suite entry only says "Disc One", there's no Disc Two mentioned.

Cheers!

Was looking for more info, I was still working on it, but added the second disc info of the Australia, and added the Nosferatu Tour featurette info being identical to NosferaTour.
Can't find anything more concrete, so I will leave it at that for now.
