I'm interested in seeing this, though the DVD is exceedingly rare.
There's bugger all info on IMDb; the Norwegian Wikipedia entry is much more informative:
Bergenstoget plyndret i natt.
It was a Norwegian/German co-production but is far more commonly known by its Norwegian title -
including on the DVD itself, Åsmund! Title the comparison as:
Bergenstoget plyndret i natt AKA Schneeschuhbanditen (1928)
You could add to those the international English title, which is a little ambiguous. The DVD producers have gone with
Thin Ice, but
Raid on the Bergen Express seems an equally likely contender. English Wikipedia lists it as
Snowshoe Bandits, but that's just a literal translation of the German title. I can't find any evidence it was ever actually known by that name.
It appears to have been restored from
this BFI print. But there's no indication as to whether it's complete or not. Give it the benefit of the doubt or list cuts as "Unknown". Obviously, ignore all the specious running times listed around the internet - it's a silent!
There's discussion and details of the DVD in this
Criterion Forum thread.
The DVD has Norwegian intertitles with English and German subs.
It has a piano score by Espen Rotevatn, recorded in 2009. Are you sure it's in mono and not stereo, Åsmund?
There was a bilingual booklet included; do you have it?
Annoyingly it has at least five ASINs.The most common ones are B01GUP8VMW and B01I07QKT4.
You're welcome!
