Lost The Complete Collection (DVD - UK) ADDED

Postby Ewan_McMahon » 26 Jan 2018 18:28

READY (at last) TO BE ADDED TO WEBSITE (or double checked first anyway) :-D

Here (at last) I will begin to upload my review for "Lost The Complete Collection (DVD set - UK)". Note: I am not sure about a couple of data facts, so I thought I'd better check:
Anamorphic?: I'm sorry I never did fully understand "Anamorphic / non-Anamorphic" screens etc, so I'm not really sure what kind my DVD copies have / how I go about finding out that information. All I know is the Aspect-Ratio is 1.78.1.
Amazon ASIN (UK, French, German, USA releases only): I cannot be sure of the correct Amazon-listing/ASIN (there are several UK Lost-Complete-Collection DVD Boxsets listed, and I can't tell by the images and descriptions). If it helps, the barcode-number is: 8717418257040, and is this one listed on hmv.co.uk: https://store.hmv.com/film-tv/dvd/lost- ... easons-1-6

The following below is for Season-1 of the boxset only for the moment - I will post the remaining series data over the next few days:

Title: Lost The Complete Collection - Lost The Complete First Season

Notes: DVD Box incorrectly states French language soundtrack as Dolby Surround 2.0 - playback on all Season 1 discs seem to have all language soundtracks English + German + French as Dolby Digital 5.1.

Lost Season-2:

Title: Lost The Complete Collection - Lost The Complete Second Season
Country: UK
Region: 2
Releasing Studio:Buena Vista Home Entertainment
Case Type: Keep Case (multi size - 7 discs contents)
Aspect Ratio: 1.78.1
Anamorphic?:
PAL or NTSC?: Pal
Soundtracks: English Dolby Digital 5.1, French Dolby Digital 5.1, Spanish Dolby Digital 5.1
Subtitles (are they optional?): English, English HoH, French, Spanish, Dutch, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Finnish, Icelandic
Cuts (and if you know it, precise run time): None known
Notes:
- DVD Box neglects to state Spanish Dolby Digital 5.1 language also included on discs. DVD Box also states English, English HoH, French subtitles are included, but neglects to state some other language subtitle tracks included also (see subtitles).
- Runtimes of all episodes (except disc 7) might show slightly inaccurate times (stated runtimes of each episode might be slightly off by several seconds): ultimately no actual episode-content is skipped during playback of each episode, however each episode timer starts at approximately 00:02 seconds, instead of 00:00 seconds. This appears to be a manufacture recording fault, and likely to occur on all UK DVD releases.

I know Samuel - the problem is I did that and there are x2 listings for my Lost - The Complete Collection Boxset, and I'm not really sure which one is correct:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lost-Season-1- ... 7418257040 - ASIN: B0036DE0Q8 - this one looks correct (has a lot of what looks like accurate product details data), but x2 of the Amazon-display-images are wrong, while x1 image (while limited to a single angle) does look correct.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/LOST-Complete- ... 7418257040 - ASIN: B00HNEW5SQ - the Amazon-display-image of this one shows exactly what my Boxset looks like, but lacks a great deal of product details data.

On the hand, I could instead include the ASIN codes for each individual series instead of the overall boxset containing all of them (the series are available individually but ultimately identical to the complete Boxset version I think):

(Season 1) https://www.amazon.co.uk/LOST-Complete- ... A383381011 - ASIN: B000DN5W9I
(Season 2) https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lost-Season-DV ... A383381011 - ASIN: B000FVQN5U
(Season 3) https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lost-Season-DV ... A383381011 - ASIN: B000RHKG6E
(Season 4) https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lost-Season-DV ... A383381011 - ASIN: B001BJARYI
(Season 5) https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lost-Season-DV ... A383381011 - ASIN: B001OTYOSU
(Season 6) https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lost-Season-DV ... A383381011 - ASIN: B002SNA5HA

What data shall I include?

The first boxset link is correct, the second seems to be a dupicate.

The above links are what we were looking for.
If the boxset has exclusive content we make a separate entry for it. If not, we just add it in the notes.

Ach, sorry, I had to delay a couple more days before uploading the remaining data - a lot of stuff going on with me atm, I have limited time to do the DVD check and get the data together. :(

I'll get the remaining 4 series done hopefully in the next couple of days.

I've altered the previous seasons data (and future seasons data) to include both full boxset and invidual series ASIN codes - I hope that's OK (probably makes it a bit easier to understand they way I have shown it). Ultimately I think the full 6-seasons boxset has the exact same contents as the individual season releases. In the mean time here is Lost Season-3:

Title: Lost The Complete Collection - Lost The Complete Third Season
Country: UK
Region: 2
Releasing Studio: Buena Vista Home Entertainment
Case Type: Keep Case (multi size - 7 discs contents)
Aspect Ratio: 1.78.1
Anamorphic?:
PAL or NTSC?: Pal
Soundtracks: English Dolby Digital 5.1, German Dolby Digital 5.1, Spanish Dolby Digital 5.1
Subtitles (are they optional?): English, English HoH, German, Spanish, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Finish, Icelandic
Cuts (and if you know it, precise run time): None known
Notes: Runtimes of all episodes (except discs 6 + 7) might show slightly inaccurate times (stated runtimes of each episode might be slightly off by several seconds): ultimately no actual episode-content is skipped during playback of each episode, however each episode timer starts at approximately 00:09 seconds, instead of 00:00 seconds. Additionally at the end of the episodes, the episode and timer will reach the end, but the screen might go blank for approximately one minute - after this the disc should load the next episode normally (if using the play-all option) or return to the episode-menu normally. Be warned however: on some players / programs the next episode or menu to load might start skipping (playing episodes individually or returning to the main title menu seems to correct this), while some players / programs the playback might lock-up entirely (the disc will need to be ejected and reinserted to start over). This appears to be a manufacture recording fault, and likely to occur on all UK DVD releases.

And finally Season 6! Sorry for the long delays (I would have got the data sooner if it weren't for me having to return my original purchase due to the possibility of it being faulty - which seems to be a recording fault on all UK released copies instead). :x

Re: Lost The Complete Collection (DVD - UK) IN PROGRESS 2/6

DISC FOUR:
- On the main-title-menu: to the right of the lava lamp is a hidden album (black semicircle button) - press to see the full cover of the Geronimo Jackson album, Magna Carta. Then, top left of the Geronimo Jackson album cover highlight hidden button and press to get a short featurette featuring Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz talking about the history of the band. (1:26)
DISC SEVEN:
- On the main-title-menu: on the model on bottom left of screen highlight hidden button and press to see a short clip about making Dharma cookies with Josh Holloway and Moumen El Hajji. (1:17)
- On the Phase-1-main-menu: to the immediate left of “Anatomy of an Episode" highlight hidden button and press to show a clip of Dominic Monaghan from on the set, December 2005, telling members of the crew the now infamous Snowman joke. (0:27)
- In the Phase-1-main-menu, on the “Lost: On Location” (page 1) menu section: To the far right of "Everybody Hates Hugo" highlight hidden button and press to play a brief clip with Jorge Garcia talking about which sweat is real or fake. (0:35).
- In the Phase-1-main-menu, on the “Lost: On Location” (page 2) menu section: To the far right of "S.O.S." highlight hidden button and press to play a clip of Sam Anderson filming the scene in which Bernard is stuck in the treetops after the crash. (1:11).
- In the Phase-1-main-menu, on the “Lost: On Location” (page 3) menu section: To directly below "What Kate Did" highlight hidden button and press to play a clip of Evangeline Lilly with Jade, the baby who plays Aaron. (0:30)
- On the Phase-2-main-menu: at the bottom left corner of the black-background, highlight hidden button and press to play a clip with Evangeline Lilly. (4:29)
- In the Phase-2-main-menu, on the “Deleted Scenes” (page 1) menu section: To the far right of "Seeing Walt" highlight hidden button and press to play a clip of Malcolm David Kelley preparing and shooting his scene in "Man of Science, Man of Faith". (1:12).

- On the Phase-3-main-menu: to the far right of "Secrets of the Hatch" highlight hidden button and press to show a photo of Jack Bender and the mural he painted on the wall in the Hatch.

I updated the US DVD set and its easter eggs and I can confirm that they are sometimes slightly different, but I have a question about some of the UK easter eggs.

For example, you wrote "- In the Phase-2-main-menu, on the “Deleted Scenes” (page 3) menu section: To the right of the large left-arrow-button, highlight hidden button and press to play a small scene about the rain delays in Lost shooting. (1:14)"

For the US DVD you have to press left, up, up, left to access the hidden extra. For the UK DVD is it not that complicated? Just press right from the large left arrow button?
Or for the Geronimo Jackson featurette, the US disc you must press down, left, up, left, left to access it. For the UK you wrote just top left, but how do you actually get there? Just wondering how the UK DVDs are.

Sorry about that James - I use my computer and a cursor to find the locations (and give an approx location / description based on that). I have limited facilites to check, but I have gone back and had another ago at my DVD programs, and I think I might be able to give you more precise direction controls (up down left right etc) for locating the UK DVD easter eggs...

Bare with me while I update the easter egg data.... And I just discovered it's actually page-4 of the deleted-scenes pages, not page-3 as I originally stated (sorry for the mistake). I will post all easter eggs again in a new post...

DISC SIX:
- After watching "The Freighter Folk," you return to the Disc 6 Main Menu, and the menu background will begin to change every 30 seconds. The initial screen is a close-up picture of the frozen donkey wheel, the second is a desert scene, and the third is a scene of the ocean from the perspective that the viewer was sitting in open water. Each time the screen changes, a sound is played in the background, which is the same sound we hear when Ben moves the island. It's clear then that the viewer is supposed to be seeing things from the perspective of either Ben and/or the Oceanic Six, and we can assume that the desert scene is Tunisia - around the area Ben is teleported after moving the island, and the scene of open water is the island's former location. During either one of these background changes, if you select any of the DVD options, the background for the sub-menus will remain the same as the previous one - for example, if you are viewing the scene of open water and you select "bonus features," the menu background for Bonus Features will remain open water, rather than the initial frozen donkey wheel picture, and the background will stop changing. However, the other Easter Eggs listed below can only be accessed from the menu with the frozen donkey wheel background. After viewing "Offshore Shoot," the menu background will change to open water and the background sound will play, however the background screen will not change.
- On the main-features-menu: directly right of "The Course of the Future: The Definitive Flash-Forwards", highlight hidden button and press to see Damon Lindelof talking about reincarnation. (0:46). *TV Remote Directions: highlight “The Course of the Future: The Definitive Flash-Forwards” and press right, down, right for button to appear*
- On the main-features-menu: directly right of "The Oceanic Six: A Conspiracy of Lies", highlight hidden button and press to see behind the scenes footage of the press scene in "There's No Place Like Home, Part 1". (1:20). *TV Remote Directions: highlight “The Oceanic Six: A Conspiracy of Lies” and press left, down, left for button to appear*
- On the main-features-menu: directly right of "The Freighter Folk", highlight hidden button and press to see Damon Lindelof talking about the force of the island. (0:38). *TV Remote Directions: highlight “The Freighter Folk” and press left 2 times, then up 1 time for button to appear*
- On the main-features-menu: directly right of "Offshore Shoot", highlight hidden button and press to see a few substitute actors talking about their jobs in Lost. (1:32). *TV Remote Directions: highlight “Offshore Shoot” and press right 1 time, then up 2 times for button to appear*

Ewan_McMahon wrote:(Not counting by computer mouse/cursor which is easily accessible) I cannot figure out how to access the SEASON-2-DISC-4 easter-egg video-clip (located within another easter egg - of the full cover of the Geronimo Jackson album, Magna Carta). I have tried the remote-control directions to try to access it but I cannot get it to work, so I don't know about this one. I have left it as UNKNOWN.

The "down, left, up, left, left" command does not work on the UK disc?

Oh I managed to get the easter egg featurette of “Geronimo Jackson album, Magna Carta” to work after all James - yes it does simply use "down, left, up, left, left" command once you have entered the hidden "album cover" easter egg menu apparently. (no need for that "register dvd" or press "5" thing with this easter-egg)

I don't know why it refused to work for me yesterday - sorry about that.

NOTE: The descriptions on the Lost WIKI webpages said to find easter-eggs by *first highlight so-and-so location* (e.g "Set Up" / "Bonus Features" / etc) before pressing direction commands - but some (maybe all?) were probably for the U.S DVD's. I went through them all carefully and 1 or 2 might have slightly different *first highlight so-and-so location* (EXAMPLE: instead of highlighting "Set-Up" then pressing left, left, on the UK DVD you are supposed to highlight "Bonus Features" first, then press left, left). <<< Basically any minor differences like this I found when comparing the WIKI data to my discs, I have noted down the correct directions for the UK data.

I've updated my easter-eggs postings again with this information, and I think the rest should all be OK. :-D

That's OK Rob, glad to have helped. All looks good!

Slightly off topic, something I've wondered about for some time: when creating the compare data, the template layout says to include "Amazon ASIN (UK, French, German, USA releases only)" (which I always do) + on all uploaded comparison titles there is often at the bottom of the page "update log: Added ASIN" of so-and-so titles... I assume this is so you guys can double check the uploaded comparison data to Amazon listings for these countries obviously, but I don't see any ASIN code listed on any comparison page anywhere... Am I missing something? Or are the ASIN codes kept hidden from general viewing for some reason?

Just curious.

Hi Ewan,

the ASIN codes produce a live price next to that release in the comparison, and then when people buy through that link, we get a small % which goes towards hosting etc.

You need to turn AdBlock off to see it if you use it.
I work away a lot but I will reply to all PM's within a few days so please have patience!
