*According to the sleeve, the soundtrack is Dolby Digital 2.0 dual mono (the sleeve of the Artificial Eye Blu-Ray (ASIN B0087PZDV6) also says mono). I couldn’t detect any stereo separation so it’s possible that this is correct (and it would be strange to claim a mono soundtrack for a fairly recent film if it’s not true). However, thedigitalfix.com says the soundtrack is surround. dvdbeaver says the blu-rays are stereo. dvdtalk.com carefully doesn’t commit itself. blu-ray.com incorrectly says 5.1 at the beginning but in the text it also says stereo. The rear cover of the US Blu-Ray is visible at blu-ray.com; it says 2.0 without committing to mono or stereo. I emailed Cinema Guild about their Blu-Ray and they said it was 2.0 surround.
**The date of the short film seems to be uncertain. The title screen at the beginning of the film says “Hotel Magnezit, Tarr Béla, 1980”. But dvdbeaver.com says 1978. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0144976/ also says 1978, but doesn’t have any release dates to back this up. Many other sources e.g. https://ssl.ofdb.de/view.php?page=person&id=15705 and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B%C3%A9la_Tarr also say 1978 but perhaps they are all copying imdb.
Cinema Guild have released this film on DVD as well as Blu-Ray but I couldn’t find a review. http://store.cinemaguild.com/homevideo/ ... /5163.html suggests similar specs to their Blu-Ray.
