Alien Nation (1988) ADDED

Postby Brent_Reid » 11 Mar 2019 12:09

I've got a complete run of US DVDs of the film, the series and the follow-up films, but wanted to upgrade the first one to HD. Looked into the options and decided the UK BD/DVD (ASIN B01N2RNUKY) was best overall, especially at £4 delivered, but thought I'd share what I learned:

The initial pressing omitted subs for the Tenctonese, and the left and right audio channels were reversed, as per the German Fox DVD. A reissue programme was effected for faulty discs: https://www.schnittberichte.com/news.php?ID=12152.
The corrected disc was also later issued in a single-disc keep case with reversible sleeve, ASIN B07HQ9TB5Q. This is now the regular version, so could also be added as a separate listing.

Oz BD ASIN: B01CX1E8M4.

Add the BD's Caps link to the DVD comparison.

Link the UK BD/DVD listings! ;)

Also issued separately in a keep case with reversible sleeve, ASIN: B07HQ7LFQ7.

There's just one other BD: the French Carlotta Films. I've found all the spec, bar the exact runtime and whether or not its optional French subs include Tenctonese. Should I still add it here?

The German Fox DVD has its left and right audio channels reversed.

I'll take this.

UPDATE: Done! Thanks! Does the NSM Records DVD also feature the audio channels error by the way?

Also I recommend holding off on submitting the French Blu-ray if you say you're uncertain the optional French subs include Tenctonese.

Cheers Anthony. As far as I can tell, the NSM DVD was always ok. I read about the audio error and replacement programme in several different places but they only ever mentioned the BD.
The other thing I couldn't ascertain 100% for the Fox DVD and NSM BD audio reversal was whether it applied to all tracks, just the English or just the German dub.
