The Circus - The Criterion Collection blu-ray. Another Chaplin classic, featuring some incredible in-camera special effects for the time, qual parts funny and shocking. This one's still great, 9/10.
Samir: You know there's nothing wrong with that name.
Michael Bolton: There was nothing wrong with it... until I was about 12 years old and that no-talent ass clown became famous and started winning Grammys. (Office Space)

City Lights - The Criterion Collection blu-ray, the second to last silent film Chaplin did with the Tramp character. Another classic comedy, it really takes you on a journey through laughter, romance, and wrapped up with a teary ending. 9/10.

Michael Bolton: There was nothing wrong with it... until I was about 12 years old and that no-talent ass clown became famous and started winning Grammys. (Office Space)

Hamilton - Disney+, the full stage musical finally on streaming, this was terrific. 10/10.

Modern Times - The Criterion Collection blu-ray, the final film to feature The Tramp character, wildly inventive and funny. This film still stands the test of time featuring universal themes that are relatable yet over-the-top. One of Chaplin's finest features, 10/10.

The Great Dictator - The Criterion Collection blu-ray, Chaplin's most controversial film and his first "talkie" satirizes Hitler and his rise to power. It's an audacious film that speaks to everyone, 10/10.

Monsieur Verdoux - The Criterion Collection blu-ray. Chaplin playing against type as a lady killer of wealthy women in this black comedy. The film is rather entertaining but does go on longer than it should, 7/10.

Hunger - The Criterion Collection blu-ray, Steve McQueen's film about a prison hunger strike in Ireland, somber yet powerful storytelling, Michael Fassbender's performance is incredible. The last act can be hard to watch but it's a powerful film, 9/10.

Limelight - The Criterion Collection Blu-ray, the last of the Chaplin features available through Criterion, though I'm waiting for them to hopefully release A King in New York. Limelight is probably Chaplin's most personal work, an aging clown struggling to find work, and relevance. The film includes an incredible pantomime sequence with Chaplin and great Buster Keaton, 9/10.

Phoenix - The Criterion Collection Blu-ray, a powerful film set in post war Germany about a Jewish survivor who has had facial reconstructive surgery, she tries to find her husband and reconnect her life and makes some shocking discoveries, 8/10.

Naked Lunch - The Criterion Collection Blu-ray, I have seen most of David Cronenberg's films, except this one, so I had to give it a go. What a strange hallucinatory head trip of a movie, still trying to make sense of it all, 7/10.

The Big Boss - I recently got the Bruce Lee: His Greatest Hits Criterion Collection blu-ray box set, so I started with this, the first disc. I always thought I'd seen this film, turns out I hadn't. It's easy to see why Bruce became such a star, his fighting style us so unique, this film is definitely cheesy, it's flawed, and isn't as good as his later films but it's the start of the dynasty and that's cool to see, 6/10.
