The Conjuring 7/10 - pretty solid demonic possession horror film, great cast and James Wan builds the tension well.
Samir: You know there's nothing wrong with that name.
Michael Bolton: There was nothing wrong with it... until I was about 12 years old and that no-talent ass clown became famous and started winning Grammys. (Office Space)

Thor: The Dark World 6.5/10 - I was kind of bored in parts, not as good as the first one but had some fun moments.

Mud 9/10 - terrific film, engaging story and location, the cast was exceptional especially the two young leads.

Only God Forgives 7/10 - a good (not great) slow boil revenge thriller, loved how it was shot, loved the score, but was lacking in some respects, mostly the thin story wasn't engaging, felt more like style over substance.

DON JON 8/10 - really liked this one, to be honest.
PLANES 6/10 - my 3 year old son loved this, however.

Hopefully get round to watching MAN OF STEEL and THE CONJURING this weekend.

I'm sure there are a few that I've missed off my list. I must update it.

ONLY GOD FORGIVES 9/10 - loved the pace of this one. It's beautifully shot too, and the sound design is superb. Quite a lot of food for thought, imo, but I can see why it's been so divisive.

Spring Breakers 1/10 - easily the worst film of the year, annoying and imbecile is the best way to describe this train wreck of a film.

Michael Bolton: There was nothing wrong with it... until I was about 12 years old and that no-talent ass clown became famous and started winning Grammys. (Office Space)

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug 7/10 - a much better film than the first instalment, the dragon is incredible and looks like they've improved the 48fps format as well, it was much less noticeable and less distracting this time around. I wasn't really hoping for much with this second film but it really delivered and I'm now pumped to see the conclusion in the third film than ever before.

The Wolf of Wall Street 6/10 - not the best film by Martin Scorsese, but both Leo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill deliver incredible performances, the film was obscene and lacked any sort of morality and that was the hardest part about the overall likability of the film and its characters... although that was mostly the point of the film, it was often difficult to take in for the full 3 hours.

Last movie two movies of 2013 I saw where:

American Hustle 9/10 - incredible enjoyable crime flick, has a very Scorsese sensibility, terrific performances especially Jennifer Lawrence who stole every scene she was in.

The Hangover Part III 6/10 - finally saw this on New Year's Eve, much better than the second film, had some funny moments but I don't think any of the sequels were ever a match for the first one.

I still have quite a few 2013 movies left to see, as there were a lot of excellent releases, the remaining films to see are (in no particular order):

All Is Lost
Nebraska
Oldboy
Filth
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty
The Kings of Summer
Inside Llewyn Davis
Fruitvale Station
The Spectacular Now
The Way Way Back
Dallas Buyers Club
Out of the Furnace
12 Years a Slave
Anchorman 2: The Legend of Ron Burgundy
Prisoners
Her

Even though I saw it in 2014 (today), I'm posting this here since it's a 2013 film...

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty 7/10 - really enjoyed it, loved the story, Ben Stiller wasn't his usually annoying self, the cinematography was excellent, loved the soundtrack, the only thing that took me out of the film was the incredible amount of product placement that kept popping up including in the film's dialogue, that was annoying.
