Ooga Booga - 3/10

I knew nothing of this one starring The Rock going in but it was an enjoyable movie about a father running drugs in co-ordination with the DEA to reduce his son's sentence.

On paper, this sounds rather standard stuff but it is actually rather amusing and has bizarre little homages to Taxi Driver, Reservoir Dogs and A Clockwork Orange. Also, considering the demographic this is aimed at, I was really taken by surprise about the amount of cursing and blunt jokes about anal sex.

Bad press gave me low expectations but it had enough laughs to entertain me even if it was far from special. It was overlong by about 30 minutes, but not a bad effort.

An okay cast that includes Michelle Trachtenberg, Katie Sackhoff and Anthony Michael Hall, but the story is a bit slow and nothing new. Possibly the definition of mediocre.

A cracking cast, and better than most low budget British gangster films. Now listening to the two commentaries.

In 3D? If so, was the 3D good?

(I have The Incredible Burt Wonderstone lined up today as my neighbour received it early yesterday from dvdworldusa)

I'm not a fan of Steve Carell in the slightest. In fact, he irritates the hell out of me. I think that made all the difference in just how funny I found this one. The supporting cast are fantastic, especially James Gandolfini and Olivia Wilde. It was also great to see Steve Buscemi with a big Hollywood role again!

An interesting take on the zombie genre and well worth a watch. John Malkovich is great. Got a viewing of Olympus Has Fallen later today to look forward to, 4 months after the rest of the world. The joys of living remotely. :(

A nice change of pace and something a little more serious for Jason Statham. Shame they changed the title to Redemption for North American audiences though.

Man of Steel 7/10 - had some issues with it, but overall a solid film
The Wolverine 8/10 - now that's how you do a wolverine movie, forget origins ever existed!

Kon Tiki - seeing this tonight...
Samir: You know there's nothing wrong with that name.
Michael Bolton: There was nothing wrong with it... until I was about 12 years old and that no-talent ass clown became famous and started winning Grammys. (Office Space)
