Che: Parts One and Two aspect ratio

Postby Samuel_Scott » 16 Oct 2013 17:38

Anyone know why Steven Soderbergh opted for 2.40:1 for the first half, and 1.85:1 for the second half?

You have to ask him that personally to know for sure. Or, it's most likely, the second part wasn't matted, like the first one.

Thanks :)

Reviews for UK releases of both will be up very shortly. Really enjoyed both parts. Soderbergh is so hit or miss for me, but these are a hit.

Soderbergh has like a split personality when he directs. Some of his films are amazing but then the next may be like worst thing ever.

My Soderbergh ratings in chronological order (for ones I have seen):

Sex, Lies and Videotape - 7/10
The Underneath - 6/10
Out of Sight - 8/10
The Limey - 7/10
Erin Brockovich - 6/10
Traffic - 9/10
Ocean's 11 - 4/10
Full Frontal - 3/10
Ocean's 12 - 4/10
The Good German - 6/10
Solaris - 4/10
Ocean's 13 - 3/10
Che: Part One - 8/10
Che: Part Two - 8/10
The Girlfriend Experience - 6/10
The Informant! - 8/10
Contagion - 6/10
Haywire - 4/10
Magic Mike - 6/10

So yeah, all over the place really. Many of the pre-2003 ones need a rewatch though as haven't seen for at least 10 years.
