How to Layout a comparison

Postby Samuel_Scott » 05 Mar 2006 13:32

Type the name of film/programme in the subject header, together with the regions your post covers.

Please copy and paste the following when adding a disc and it will make everything a lot easier for us and will make sure you are not missing any information!

For DVD:

Region:
Releasing Studio:
Case Type:
Aspect Ratio:
Anamorphic?:
PAL or NTSC?:
Soundtracks: (If a silent film, also state score composer and performer)
Subtitles (are they optional?):
Cuts: (and if you know it, precise run time)
Commentaries:
Extras:
Notes:
Easter Eggs:

If 2.0 audio is included, we need to know whether mono, stereo or surround.

By copy and pasting the above and filling it out, it will enable us to add things quicker. And yes, we know they are in a different order to the actual database, but this is the order in the admin side so makes it even quicker for us!

By releasing studio, we mean the label under which it has been released, not necessarily the company which is distributing the title or the licensor. For example, Sony distribute Third Window Films titles, but we would enter Third Window Films, not Sony. If you are unsure (cases can be confusing), then list the studios on the packaging and we will help work it out!

*We always need proper sources when dealing with "Your comparisons". Add a link to a review or state that you own the disc. Please DON'T copy specs from the back covers. If you own the disc, check the content by viewing the actual disc since back cover specs is often wrong.

Other notes on entering specs:

- For audio, the main language track should be labeled at the top, with the "strongest" audio track, followed by the foreign language dubs in alphabetical order, and finally Audio Descriptive tracks. For example with an English language film:

English DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1
English Dolby Digital 2.0 surround
French DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1
Spanish Dolby Digital 5.1
Thai Dolby Digital 5.1
English Audio Descriptive Dolby Digital 5.1

- For subtitles, the languages should be in alphabetical order. Let us know if the subtitles are optional, forced, or burned-in. For example with an English language film:

Cantonese, English, English HoH, French, Korean, Mandarin (Simplified), Mandarin (Traditional), Spanish, Thai

- Runtimes should be minutes and seconds, spaced with a colon, and within parenthesis. Example - (0:00)

- For entry titles and for extras titles, articles and prepositions should be lower case. Example - "Memoirs of a Geisha"

- Do NOT use the tab key spacing while laying out text. Example - "Behind the Scenes" featurette (5:55) and not "Behind the Scenes".....featurette.....(5:55)

- If including a boxset with multiple films or TV seasons, please list the entire contents in one thread. Please note if the titles are available only in the boxset, or if they are also available separately.

Thanks all!
I work away a lot but I will reply to all PM's within a few days so please have patience!
