The Dark Knight (French Blu)
Greatest superhero movie ever ? 10/10
But those 1.78:1 scenes are really annoying...

The Collection (TV)
Worthy sequel of the "The Collector", one of the few good horror movies I watched these past few years - 6/10

I didn't notice any 1:78 scenes, though watched it a couple of times already.

The IMAX scenes are at a different ratio to the rest.

And how come I never noticed them? I mean the movie was shot in 2.40.

No idea why you didn't notice, but it is like that on every release, and was like that at the cinemas also.

You mean 2.40 changes to 1.78 at a certain moment?! Wow, I definitely didn't notice such thing, as any other people I know!

Yes, they're there. I noticed most of the longer IMAX sequences right away during the first time I was watching the film years ago.
From what I recall, at least the opening bank heist, convoy chase, Rachel's death and the ending sequence leading to the end titles were filmed completely in IMAX, then there are numerous others featuring only a few seconds of IMAX footage.
Work occasionally keeps me off the grid but I'll be around sooner or later.

It Lives By Night a.k.a.The Bat People (YouTube) : first viewing - 4/10

I got to see the trailer at the cinema. Pretty scary, I thought. The title was "The Bat People", saw the cool poster too. I thought it would be something horrifying like other vampire films. Didn't have the chance to watch it though.

Planning to buy the upcoming dvd so I decided to watch it.

It could have been better if the plot made more sense and had a satisfying ending. I just realized how bad it was :-?

What's good: none. Even Stan Winston's make-up effects couldn't redeem the film
What's bad: the senseless plot, the ape-like make up of a batman, the supposedly "scary" song played during the opening credits and the ending, and ugh ... what an ending!

I think it's only on Blu-ray editions... everything is 2.40 on DVDs!?

My UK DVD is definitely always 2:40. I also have it on Blu, but it's still sealed. Never had time to open it...

Corky Romano (2001) - Meh. I do think Vincent Pastore is underrated, but the majority of jokes here fell flat. 5/10

The Inbetweeners Movie (2011) - Very funny, but not as funny as the TV show. I'm still looking forward to the coming sequel. 8/10

Pursued (2004) - Val Kilmer is a headhunter who is also homicidal and hunts down Gil Bellows in a strictly by-the-numbers thriller. 5/10

I had a day off today, so went and caught an afternoon screening of Anchorman 2, I felt like seeing something funny. I guess it was kind of funny, 5/10 - a lot of the jokes just felt forced and the film was way too long, 2 hours for a comedy? Could have been cut by 30 minutes. There were some good moments in the film but a lot of filler in-between those scenes, the final battle in the park was great and featured some nice cameos. I guess I expected more, considering the first was pretty decent.
Samir: You know there's nothing wrong with that name.
Michael Bolton: There was nothing wrong with it... until I was about 12 years old and that no-talent ass clown became famous and started winning Grammys. (Office Space)
