Das Kabinett des Doktor Caligari (Blu-ray 4K) (1920) UPDATED

Postby Michael_Beuster » 03 Feb 2024 19:24

On the page for the 4K BDs it was called:
"Note that the German release has three featurettes on the restoration, but it's unclear whether or not these are covered by the "On the Restoration" featurette of the UK release."

Confirming that those are the same. The three featurettes from the DE disc are combined on the UK disc, only describing text on screen was translated to English.
The three featurettes are even saved on disc as the same 3 separate files in the file structure - they are just played via the menu as one file.

Might also be worth calling out that the main feature on both discs has a German title card and German Intertitles (with the UK one having subtitles for those),
but the text screens about the restauration at the very start are translated to English on the UK disc - pretty much translating the German one perfectly.

Edit: Even though the current spelling of "Kabinett" starts with a "K", the movies original title (Old German) is spelled "Cabinet" with a C and just one "t" (also on the movie's title card), so the German title should be changed on this one and the entry for the standard BD and the DVD.

Thank you for confirming.

That should seem obvious by our listing. Not sure that need any updating.

Updated the title.

Thanks.
And regarding the second callout: You are right - I didn't see that before.

FYI - The callout around the featurettes would also apply to the BDs, not just the 4K versions and could be added there as well:
https://www.dvdcompare.net/comparisons/ ... ?fid=28300

As there are two DE and two UK releases, suggested callout would be:
"Note that the German releases have three featurettes on the restoration which are combined into the "On the Restoration" featurette of the UK releases."
