House On Sorority Row (The) AKA House Of Evil AKA Seven Sisters

The Film

The House On Sorority Row is a slasher movie from the early 1980's and a half decent one at that. It's about a group of female students who want to stay in their sorority house for an extra few days, yet the housemaster, Mrs Slater, says they cannot stay. When she catches one of the girls in bed with a guy in the sorority house she slashes the waterbed. The students decide it's payback time, and as part of a practical joke, get her to go into the (very dirty) swimming pool using a gun as to make her do it. She accidently gets shot and the girls hide her in the pool until the party ends. One question though... Is she dead? And who is picking off the girls one by one on the night of the party? A good film which pretty much defines the 80's slasher trend. Some good looking girls, some not. Some naked, some not. It makes it all the obvious to know who gets killed and who doesn't. However, this film actually attempts a storyline and is all the better for it.

Video

Non anamorphic transfer which is only very slightly better than a VHS copy of the film. Lots of grain and artefacting and the colours are either not as bright as they should be (leaves on the trees) or not as dark as they should be (mainly the blacks). An anamorphic transfer would've made the film all the more enjoyable.

Audio

A crappy 2.0 Dual Mono track which is of poor quality. Too much crackling. A nice 5.1DD track would've been nice and helped with the 'jumps' as it were.

Extras

Theatrical Trailer
This is your lot unfortunately. A trailer. Mind you, what do you expect on a budget disc?

Overall

A decent slasher film let down by a rather poor disc.
