"This lucky thirteenth MythBusters collection is packed with its infamous scintillating scientific mayhem, along with a few rocket-powered surprises. With 30 years of special effects experience, Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman will answer the craziest questions viewers can think up and then make up a few of their own! Can balloons protect you in a car crash? Does the smell of fear really exist? Can you cook lasagna in a dishwasher? And what exactly tastes like chicken? They ll also team up with movie director James Cameron to tackle a Titanic myth the most requested in MythBuster history! Plus, this 2-disc set includes perhaps the perfect episode ever: Explosions from A to Z, highlighting some of the show s 752 detonations and counting."

Mythbusters: Collection 13 compiles the last eight episodes of season ten

10.14: "Titanic Survival" (43:28) – Adam and Jamie team up with James Cameron to test whether Jack could have survived by floating on the same board with Rose at the end of Titanic, and if Rose could have withstood hypothermia for the sixty-three minute period before her rescue. They also test the plausibility of a rocket surfboard.

10.15: "Trench Torpedo" (43:30) – Adam and Jamie test which variables in the shape of battlefield trenches could affect soldier survival in an explosion. They then test the myth that balloons stuffed in a clown car will act as airbags and prevent death.

10.16: "Hail Hijinx" (42:30) – Based on a scene in Cliffhanger, Adam and James test whether it is possible to jump to safety on a rope bridge. They also test whether a strong enough hailstorm can sink a boat.

10.17: "Fright Night" (42:30) – The guys test the myth that a certain inaudible sound frequency can lead people to believe an area is haunted, and if humans do indeed emit a detectable scent when frightened. They also test if it easy to carry a dead body and if a shallow grave can be dug in twenty minutes.

10.18: "Mini Myth Medley" (43:28) – Adam and Jamie test whether a person can really recognize the back of their hand, whether the potty dance can stave off the need to urinate, if it is possible to through a needle through a pane of glass without shattering it (based on a viral video of a Shaolin monk supposedly achieving the feat), if it is possible to ride a bicycle underwater, and if it is possible to break a window using only a finger (based on a firefighting viral video).

10.19: "Cannonball Chemistry" (42:28) – Adam and Jamie test whether it is possible to survive a thirty-five foot jump onto a mattress floating in a shallow swimming pool (based on a stunt in an episode of Burn Notice), as well as if fifteenth century soldiers used stone cannonballs that caused the same damage as iron ones but disintegrated on impact, preventing their reuse.

10.20: "Food Fables" (43:30) – The guys test whether a holiday meal can be fully cooked under a car hood with sufficient driving distance, if Tryptophan in turkey does indeed make people sleepy, if unusual meats actually taste like chicken, if a Chinese vessel can pressure cook popcorn faster than any other known method, and if it was possible to cook lasagna in a dishwasher.

10.21: "Explosions A-Z" (43:30) – A compilation of 752 explosions from the series ordered in 25 alphabetical categories (X and Y combined).

Video

Eight episodes from the latter half of the tenth season are spread over two dual-layer discs, and the anamorphic 1.78:1 widescreen presentations are generally bright, sharp, and colorful with some minor faults owing to the videography and the interlaced encoding.

Audio

The original stereo tracks are rendered in Dolby Digital 2.0 with clear dialogue, adequate location sound, gimmicky sound effects, and music. English Closed Captioning is included for those who can access it.
