OVERALL: R4
The Australian "Re-mastered and Re-plastered" release has the original Australian audio track, an alternate Australian audio track with an orchestral score, the film in widescreen.
Note US distributor Miramax ordered some changes to the film for its American release. Some dialogue was changed to be more intelligible for American audiences. "Rissole" was changed to "meatloaf", "two-stroke" was changed to "diesel", references to the Australian TV show "Hey Hey It's Saturday" were changed to the more generic "Funniest Home Videos", and brand names of various cars were changed from uniquely Australian cars like the Camira to ones sold in both countries like the Corolla. Soundtrack cues were altered, such as Paul Kelly's "Take Your Time" replaced with Argent's "Hold Your Head Up" and some scenes without music cues had songs added, such as Free's "All Right Now" only heard in the US version. There are also some scenes shortened, with a number of them occurring when the Kerrigans travel to Bonnie Doon for the weekend. -
CUTS:
- R1 America- Miramax Pictures - Yes - US version with dialogue and soundtrack alterations and shortening of some scenes. (Thanks to h8sh8 for confirming this)
