OVERALL: Draw
Both US and German releases for each containing exclusive extras (although the 2020 US release also includes the Extended Cut). The Koch Media release reinstates 3 seconds of footage cut from the US release.
Versions:
Previous DVD versions have contained a slightly abbreviated version of the film (cut in the US allegedly to appease the Catholic Legion of Decency), which eliminates the following:
- a moment of blasphemy as Asher begs Price, in God's name, to spare her father and lover ('I beg of you mercy! Mercy in the name of God!') and, in response, is slapped in the face
- 1 second of nudity as Asher is thrown into the bathwater
An even longer version has been screened on UK television, including the following additional footage:
- an additional 20 seconds of dialogue in the scene between Price and Asher on the battlements of the castle
- a 50 second scene in which Hop Toad tells the female dwarf that she will not be struck again, and the female dwarf implores Hop Toad to run away with her -
