R2 United Kingdom- Columbia Tristar Home Entertainment - Yes - 10 seconds to earn a "15" rating:
- In the bust at the beginning of the film, the shots of Al (Dylan McDermott) with the plastic bag over his head have been removed, to reduce the focus on his suffocating and terror. The BBFC insisted the act of the plastic bag on the head be "reduced to establishment only".
- Frank's (Clint Eastwood) shooting of the two captors has also been reduced in length to make the casual yet sudden shooting of them seem less vicious and shocking. We now fail to see the brief rear shot of the second captor being shot, along with a cloud of blood exploding from his back.
- When Leary (John Malkovich) kills the bank clerk and her housemate, the BBFC claim the sound effects of the latter's head being smashed into the mirror have been heavily reduced in volume. They also say the sound effects of their necks being wrenched have also been considerably reduced in volume. However, the DVD version eliminates the mirror-smashing and the neck breaks completely. Perhaps the cinema version was edited differently?
