    OVERALL: Draw

The "Book Of The Dead" releases, R1 Ultimate Edition or 2002 UK Re-Issue Edition from Anchor Bay, are the best available. The original BOTD releases come in a Limited Edition Special Package (A Rubber/Latex Book). However, the R2 UK Box Set has the same Disc as in the BOTD/ 2002 UK Re-Issue releases, with exclusive Extras on the Disc 4, and the original Evil Dead in it's OAR. Also, the R2 UK Sony release includes a different commentary, but the film has tweaks made by Sam Raimi.

Some editions include minor tweaks in the film itself, performed at Raimi's request for the full screen version:
    - a lightning shot has been removed,
    - a shot where Cheryl is first possessed and turns round to the group has been zoomed in.
In 2010, while prepping the new transfer for the US Blu-ray and UK releases, Sam Raimi made more tweaks to the film (while leaving the first 2 tweaks mentioned back to their original form).
Screenshots of the tweaks and comparison between several editions of the movie is avaialble on Book Of The Dead.

The Italian SE also has the "Original Version", though it's unknown at this time if it's "tweaked" or not. Read more here.

There is also a vanilla release available from Anchor Bay UK under there 'Horror Classics' label which should be avoided.

To see what tweaks were made to the 2010 US and UK releases, please see this link: this link..
