OVERALL: Draw
The 2025 88 Films release includes a new transfer of a recently-discovered Korean print of what is believed to be closes to Woo's director's cut and includes new extras along with the 2020 release in its entirety.
The German release also has two versions of the film with the commentary and featurette from the UK release, plus a Woo interview, though note the international cut only has lossy audio.
GENERAL NOTES:
The film was released in released in South Korea in 1984 in a Korean-dubbed version of Woo's original cut while Golden Harvest ordered some added sex and other scenes for their domestic edition which was nevertheless shelved and not released until after the success of A Better Tomorrow. The film is available in three versions:
- the South Korean version, closest to Woo's director's cut (1984)
- the Hong Kong theatrical version (~88 minutes) (1986)
- the export version (~85 minutes) (1986) -
