REWIND NEWS FOR 2021

PRANO BAILEY-BOND’S 'CENSOR' STARRING NIAMH ALGAR GETS LIMITED EDITION BLU-RAY RELEASE ON 31 JANUARY 2022

Wednesday 22nd December 2021

'This thrilling, dizzying debut… is a nostalgic treat for anyone old enough to remember the infamous "video nasties" scare of the early 80s' – Mark Kermode

'Ambiguous, introspective, thoughtful. As weirdly uncomfortable as horror should be, and rarely is… Niamh Algar is terrific, and deeply empathetic' – Flick Philosopher

'Bailey-Bond displays a tricky skill: moving from realism to nightmarish oddness while taking viewers along with you' – Sunday Times

'Feels lovingly worked-at, slathered in period detail and aesthetic beauty' – Independent

Prano Bailey-Bond's acclaimed 'thrilling, dizzying debut' Censor stars the incredible Niamh Algar in a mesmerising performance as a dedicated and intense film censor during Britain's infamous 'video nasty' era, whose work slowly becomes intwined with her past. Now this brilliantly dark and disturbing British horror is set for the highly anticipated Limited Edition Blu-ray treatment from Second Sight Films on 31 January 2022.

Enid (Algar – Deceit, The Virtues) spends her days meticulously watching and assessing gruesomely violent and disturbing movies, taking her work as a film censor very seriously. She holds a strong sense of responsibility in protecting audiences from extreme content, subconsciously driven by the guilt she holds from a disturbing childhood trauma.

When a troubling film lands on her desk, Enid finds herself embroiled in the story and slowly starts to uncover some of her lost memories that seem strangely similar to the film. Consumed by the need to find if there is a connection between the production and the disappearance of her sister, her life spirals out of control, descending into darkness and danger.

Censor Limited Edition Blu-ray comes as a two-disc box set presented in a rigid slipcase with new artwork by James Neal and a soft cover book with brand new essays and art cards. The slew of special features include:

Arriving in a classic car, with a country music collection and an indeterminate number of ex-wives, Shepherd is joined by his by-the-book assistant, DC Kristin Sims (Fern Sutherland, The Almighty Johnsons). It’s not long before Shepherd discovers that Brokenwood is full of secrets and suspicions... From mysterious murders to secret societies, alongside gruesome goings-on, killers lurk between the shadows in the seedy underbelly of this town.

Series Seven sees Brokenwood C.I.B’s finest, D.S.S. Mike Shepherd and his associates, back for more enthralling investigations. This curious team of detectives work together with a warm camaraderie and deadpan humour against the background of sublime small-town New Zealand and must investigate fresh murder cases including the demise of an antiques show host, a death at a health retreat and a killing at a farmer’s market.

Featuring a soundtrack of Mike’s favourite soulful country music to match the rural setting, each series contains six enthralling stand-alone, feature-length murder mystery cases.
